The Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) is an advanced level certification for IT professionals serious about careers in information security. Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) is a certification for information security managers. This is regulated by ISACA. To get the certifications, one must clear a written examination. Another prerequisite is to have at least five years of information security experience with a minimum three years of information security management work experience in a particular field.

This certification provides a common body of knowledge for information security management. The main focus of this certification is information risk management. It also focuses on issues such as the right way to govern information security as well as developing and managing an information security program and managing incidents.
